Help With Multiple iPads

Hello everyone! I work in IT (phone/server/computer/network). I have just entered a new position at our agency and am now using iPhones and iPads for the first time. Our agency just purchased 7 iPads (and will be getting more) that I, with no experience, will be managing. ;) Here I am up at 4am and cant go back to sleep because I am thinking about these crazy iPads! The first thing on my mind is how to manage the apps. They are used by 2 different departments. Can I create one Apple ID for our Agency, purchase an app and then download it onto only the iPads that need it? This is the first of many questions Im sure I will have. Thanks, Elizabeth

Our agency just purchased several iPads. The iPads will be used by different departments but will be manged by myself. I am new to iPads and apps so Im not educated on how they work. What is the best way to handle our apps? Can we create one Apple ID for the entire agency, purchase apps for users and then choose which iPads to download it to? Thanks for your help.

Hi, Elizabeth - and welcome to the forum. Good to "see" you and I hope you enjoy your visit(s).

A little bit of housekeeping, first. I've merged your two posts together because they were duplicates. Duplicate posts are a no-no here cause they fragment the conversation and make it hard to follow along. So, please keep all follow-up and discussion - on this topic - to this thread. Thanks.

Now - to your concern.

Yes, you can run those iPads under one
Apple ID and choose which iPads get which apps purchased by that ID. You can put some, none or all of the apps onto any/all of the iPads.

You'll need to be the one in control of that Apple ID, which means you'll have full control over the apps you put on the iPad. You'll also have to keep track of updates (as your users won't have access to the ID/password to do the updates on the iPad).

One thing you may want to consider (company decision, I'm sure) is if you are going to allow users to install their own apps (bought by them with their own Apple ID). Something to think about.

Hopefully, this'll get you started. Holler back if you need more.

Marilyn
