New to iPad2

I've just sarted with iPad. Bought a Zagg Cover/Keyboard, which works pretty well. I need to figure out how to get my iPad, my laptop (an HP with Windows XP, iTunes, etc) and my iPod to synchronize. I'm not sure how to (f'r instance) back up a couple of iBooks and KOBO books onto my iTunes files in the laptop. Looks like I should do it, though. I'll explore it a bit and may be uttering strangled cries for help in a day or two.
