New today!

Hi everyone! I got my iPad 2 the Christmas before last, and I am still finding my way around it! I've only just found the
link for the manual!!!
I am a retired nurse and midwife, and spend a LOT of time on the Internet (mainly Facebook), using my iPad. It's so much more convenient than my Toshiba laptop, which is quite cumbersome, and doesn't have a good battery life. It is still taking me a while to get used to Safari, but I am getting there. Fortunately, hubby is a REAL Apple tart, so can usually help me with any queries!
I think I may need to get it fixed though, because nobody can hear me when I use FaceTime (and no, I don't have the microphone muted or off!), so I have to use my iPhone for that. Shame, really. Any tips would be gratefully received! :)
Anyway, it will be nice to meet some more people!

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Try closing your FaceTime app completely and then relaunch it.
From the home screen do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar. These are all the apps that you have opened at one time. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it, now press the home button to return to your screen. If this doesn't work try a reset.

Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start.

Also check your microphone to make sure there is no debris in it, a quick vacuum can work wonders.
