Got my ipad last night. Know absolutely nothing about them except from watching friends use them. They encouraged me to get one. Well I'm off to a great start. I turn it on and all I get is a usb cord showing plugged into Itunes symbol. I've charged it for a few hours (properly I hope). Anyway I'm sure I'll be in here doing a lot of reading. I've downloaded the manual, thanks for the link. Now if I could just get ahold of one of my friends to tell me how to turn the damm thing on!!!!!!. Later folks.

OK - saw your problem with turning on - remember - absolutely - you need to sync with iTunes first on your PC or Mac...

Thanks. I didn't understand that it was telling me to plug into Itunes. I'm off and running.

Hello from another NOOB. The long black tab/button on the right side of the short end is your on/off switch. If you have itunes on your desktop, and are subsequently wired in via the usb cord, you can sync all kinds of stuff from both your desktop and itunes. I found the techs at Apple Care very helpful too.
