Hello All,

I haven't had any Mac products in a very long time, so please excuse my ignorance.

I recently purchased an Ipad 2... I do a lot of traveling for work, and wanted something that lighter weight and good for a 'see spot run' technologically challenged individual. Blah blah blah

I am learning very slowly how to use the Unit. So far I find it a very enjoyable experience.

I have Skype, kindle apps...
What else would everyone suggest? I have a trip overseas planned, and wanted to know what is advised to get, both app and other items... I do Might do a lot of photography while gone, should I get the connection for the memory cards? Can I upload the photos directly to websites... Any suggestions on what www I should use, would be greatly appreciated.

How does Skype and the messenger work?

Always great to have a iPad I have the iPad 2 also so I would suggest getting games there are a lot of free games or if your if your looking into purchasing then there are great ones to I like news apps to keep me informed like CNN Abc news and if you don't have the iPF app get that easier to navigate the site like that

These are kind of general oh a great game is temple run very addicting and free so if you don't know how to do some thing on your iPad or have a issue you can always post it here on the forum

Also when you learn every thing that the iPad has to offer you will enjoy a ton more even more then you are right now!

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

The Camera Connection Kit is very good and you can link your camera straight to it. If you use cards they need to be SD. I hear many members speaking about Photobucket for uploading photos to a site and there is an app available too. Taking an iPad overseas is so much easier than a laptop and there are many travel apps available for maps and attractions.

Download Appshopper it's another way to browse for apps. You can also input a wish list and when an app comes on sale it will alert you. A great way to get paid apps free.

Skype is great for keeping in touch with family and friends, you will need to set up an account, here is a link
https://login.skype.com/account/signup-form
http://www.skype.com/intl/en/features/allfeatures/skype-to-skype-calls
Once you signup and have loaded the app. Go to contacts, do your friends or family have Skype? If you press the + sign in the top right corner, you can search the directory. Also make sure your notifications are on. Settings - Skype and also Settings - Notifications - Skype.

By messenger do you mean iMessage? You can send unlimited texts via wifi or 3G with IOS 5 on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch to anyone with one of those devices with IOS 5 also. Have a look at your settings in your iPad, Settings - Messages, make sure iMessage is turned on here and that you have your email address in the Receive At tab. Now look in the Notifications tab then Messages, turn it on here and set up your alerts. It's a great feature.

I hope all this helps you. Enjoy!
