hey guys :(

Thankfully the screen is not damaged in any shape or form, everything still works, but the metal backing has a dent in it.

Along the side where the speaker is, the back part of the metal is bent inwards, and the top part, where the screen is, is no longer flush with the screen. its uneven so if you run your finger across you can feel the metal sticking up over the edge :(

Do apple stores have a repair center ? (never been in one)
How much do you think they'd charged me to replace the metal backing ?

I really REALLY want it fixed :(

Ouch! That's painful!

Apple could repair it but I remember reading somewhere on this forum that they'd just swap it for a new one...

Call them.

I doubt they'd fix it, hardly any place actually fixes things anymore. Heck, they don't even replace the battery, really - they just give you a new iPad. Your only real option is replacing it, unless you have a rider on your home insurance covering electronic equipment, or bought it with a credit card that insures your purchases, like AMEX.

yep, no repairs, but they offered to replace it for 350 straight swap (32gb 3g)

I had them make sure the dent would not affect cooling or anything, they confirmed it would not, and everything still works, just a cosmetic issue.

so going to opt for the 39 dollar apple case for it and forget its ever there heh.

Day's like that are why God made beer......

Sorry for your trouble, but I least it functions, and with the case it will look fine.....

Oh man, I'm so sorry this happened to you :( But you have a good idea, just get the case and forget its there. One way 2 look at it is that hey... now u've got the first "ding" in it so its out of the way and you don't have 2 obsess about keeping everything perfect :)

I cringe at the thought. This thread makes me want to run out and buy one of those big, fat, beefy industrial cases.

wow, feel your pain mate, However your story brings a bit of good news for many if us I think.
I for one have been worried to death on just how robust this is going to be.
I dropped my touch a few times, and worked great no problems, so I was thinking bound to get some bumps and bruises along the way.
But does sound from your experience at least it works.

Bad I know mate, but look on the bright side.....it could have busted totally, then were would you be??

I have the iPhone too and both a slippery. But the iPad is heavier.
I've had a case because of that.
But what I would do if I were you is look into the skin-it cases.
This is like a second skin in any color or design.
That might cover any imperfections. Then I'd look into a case .
I have 3 (being a woman,I have a few colors ) ut I found some good deals on
Amazon.com. Most under $25.
The skin-it is so thin you should be able to use it and a case.
The apple case is very tight, might not work.
Good luck with it ,I feel your pain.
