Not showing iPad in iTunes

My iPad does not show up in iTunes. I'm able to get to the iTunes store but for some reason it's not showing my iPad. Any help?

Make sure you are plugged into a USB 2.0 port. I plug my iPad Nd iPhone in together. The iPhone has no problem with USB 1.1, but for some reason, the iPad is hit and miss.
