I had many pages of notes in my Notes app and I was on them yesterday. All was fine. Today went to access the notes all of them are gone. Everything else was fine on the iPad. I'm not a tech person and I messed up. I didn't have them backed up on iCloud or I tunes. Anyone have any idea how this could have happened and if I can get them back. They were very important medical notes.

I really don't have an answer except to let you know it may not be anything you did. I know of at least one phone that has done this two times where somehow overnight the notes just disappeared never to be recovered. Hopefully there is a solution and you can recover them. I think it may help a few people.

Are you sure that your Notes were not automatically backed up to an email address? I was not even aware mine were synced with my gmail account which is very helpful. If you go to Notes in Settings and click on it, you will see until Font, Default Account and a choice of accounts, depending I suppose on which email clients you use and iCloud. My notes would not be nearly as important as yours, but I would be very distressed to lose them. I presume that you do not have another idevice to which they may have been synced? Sorry if I am stating the obvious!

Roy you have to go to you mail settings and turn on notes first for this to show up.

Edit...i take that back, mine does not show in notes either.

I would think that you need it turned on in iCloud syncing......

I thank you both very much. Have we helped the OP though?

I have just thought of something.....open your Notes app and look in the top left corner above the search box. You should see the faint word ACCOUNTS. Tap that and you may see....

All Notes
Gmail Notes (or whatever your email server is)
On my iPad

Tap All Notes, if your lost notes appear then somehow you switched your note account to the mail app which, if you have never used it, will have no notes to show.

I hope that is the answer onejerseygirl ;)
