I'm using Notes and have an HP 6500A plus which does air printing from my iPad. Thanks for any help.
When an app (or several) are misbehaving, I usually go through the following steps:
1. Force Close - open the multi-tasking bar (double tap the 'home buttom' or use multi-gesturing and swipe up); press & hold an app until all begin to 'jiggle'; find the offending app(s) and press the 'red circle w/ minus sign' - return to the home screen & try again.
2. Restart - press & hold the 'Sleep/Awake' (a.k.a. power) button until a red slider appears (may take a few seconds) - move the slider to turn off the iPad; then press & hold the same button until the Apple logo appears - wait for a restart.
3. Reset - press & hold the 'Power' and 'Home' buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears - this may take a longer time, so have patience; the iPad will 're-boot' - NOTE that none of these maneuvers will alter your apps, files, or settings.
Hi BurgGirl - thanks for the information above - also curious if you're having similar problems w/ other note printing programs (e.g. Pages, Evernote, etc.)? But I would suggest two initial steps: 1) Force Close the Notes app (make sure the program is not open when following the directions below); and 2) Power recycle your printer, i.e. turn it off or pull the plug, wait a 'little' and re-power - then try again printing from Notes. If these maneuvers do not correct the problem, then sequentially 'Restart' and if not effective 'Reset' the iPad - test again.
Notes offers few features, i.e. several fonts in Settings & several output options, as far as I see on my iPad - the app is part of the iOS and cannot be deleted and reinstalled which would have been another potential suggestion. Finally, you could re-power your Wi-Fi network, i.e. pull the plugs on both your modem and router (or one device if you have a combo unit), wait a while, then sequentially replug the modem first, wait and finally replug the router - try again.
Let us know if the above helps - if not, please post back here - good luck! Dave
Thanks Dave. This is very good information. I had tried turning iPad off (both ways) and that didn't help. I have had the same problem in Evernote so maybe a problem in system settings but I've been unable to find a setting that relates. Since I have the iPad one I can't update my iOS apps so that may be a problem too. Thanks for good advice.
Hi again BurgGirl - sorry that you're not finding an easy solution - I'm assuming that you re-powered the printer? If so, does the printer work otherwise? Just not sure whether the printer can be programmed differently to AirPrint commands over Wi-Fi? Did the printer work correctly when first set up? If so, any changes made that may have affected the printer?
Finally (and if possible), can you try the iPad w/ another printer? And finally (finally), you might want to check the HP website for advice, i.e. maybe there is a firmware upgrade or possibly a proprietary program from them that supports AirPrint that might work differently? About all that I can offer @ the moment - please let us know - Dave
