Hi chaps

just about to download this app for Excel files on my ipad. i've used it on my Touch before a fair bit, but not to the capacity i'd have liked due to the small screen.

so.....

i know it handles excel files nicely, but does it use page tabs? very important is this.

thanks.

Did you pick this app up? If so, what do you think of it? I'm looking for a Word compatible app but like the idea of having the full suite of spreadsheet and presentation as well.

I picked it up initially to build, manipulate and then share information wit my staff. As for my uses, there isn't enough functionality (splitting cells, merging, the copy and paste just won't pick up enough cells at once to then paste into a different sheet. Tabs ARE NOT AVAILABLE; at least that I've figured out. I, like you, need a good spreadsheet that gives me the option to format cells, like or similar to excel. I am just about to try numbers but based on the reviews, it's not much better, if any, and staff must be able to read, input or manipulate the cells I've requested information on.

Any Ideas??? Need Help!!!

I use Office HD for work. We have to use a excel spreadsheet to record numerous bits of information. We have several spreadsheets on one file and it's easy to switch between them as there is the tab feature like in the normal pc version of excel.

It works well as far as I can see no problems. The app may not do everything you want it to do in the normal pc version but it's good enough and I'm sure with time you will be able to do almost everything.

I've tried several times to find a "format cell" option and have yet to find it. I am director of operations and, like you, use spreadsheets to gather many bits of information. Some of the docs are very simple as I would post those in a shared folder, information would be added by whomever I need it from (maybe several people). I will pull the doc and then combine all data into something I may need to build myself. I say this only in an attempt to define some level of depth I would need when working from the ipad2. I have yet to even find a way to outline cells. I know that I haven't given it a good chance yet but I suppose I am concerned because business is the primary reason that I purchased 64 Gig tablet.

One thing I haven't mentioned; I work for a Material Handling company who will not support anything but Windows. We have 26 branches over 10 states so I can understand their stance to keep things as simple as possible. I can't even log into our our shared docs folder so my next step is to learn to use cloud computing and teach it to my staff. I believe I'll get that one after watching a few tutorials.

Thanks Very Much for you vote of confidence. There are many business systems I still have left to master and once I have, i think things will be much easier. I truly believe I've made a good purchase.

I use drop box and have a shared folder from works account connected to my personal account.

Works just fine and it means updates to the file or file can be done a lot quicker than waiting for me to get back with the laptop and USB stick so my £600 odd buying a iPad 2 was soo worth it.

I did have to research how best to setup iPad and what apps to use for work and it's paid off.

Have you checked the guide on office hd to see if you can do what it is your wanting to do?

Did I mention I work for specialist communications company who make ear pieces for military and Civ use including musicians and F1 lol i use office hd for the recording of all the Officers who will do Notting hill carnival this year so they get their protective ear pieces :)

Thanks for the input guys. I'm not a hardcore Office user but the ability to work with Word and Excel files is a real bonus on the iPad - Powerpoint not so much still anice to have. I guess my main use would be Word and were it not for the lack of cloud services, I would most likely have bought Pages by now.

Yep, handles tabs nicely. Can't get the date math to function though
It doesn't recognize dates derived from a formula. Anyone know how to fix this?
