What is the clicking sound that my iPad 3G makes when I turn it on and off? Isn't everything in there solid state?

The really cool thing is if you connect it to a Bluetooth headset that's A2DP compliant all the sounds, including clicks and notifications, come through the headset.

It is like an electric car. People get spooked when something does not make a noise like they might expect. We equate noise with working. You get in an electric car, turn on the ignition and nothing make a noise. It is amazing how spooky that can feel, especially when you get close to someone not paying attention and honk the horn.

It's funny you say that about ev's because there's a whole business being created for car tones. Apparently ev's are so quiet that they will have to make some kind of noise to alert people around it. Learjet sound seems to be popular!

Unless they make the battery systems more reliable, EVs are worthless. Imagine a junky clunker that only goes 35 mph, downhill and won't take a charge half the time. No heat, air, or radio and you pay $20,000 for it. For a lot less, you could have almost any high MPG econo box that will do a better job.
