"Other" in the Capacity Graph

When I sync my IPad to ITunes and go the the "Apps" tab the graph at the bottom shows Audio, Video, Apps, etc. and .85 GB of "other" Does anyone know what the "other" is? I'm assuming it has something to do with the OS, but that's just a guess.

It's general stuff. Like as you mentioned, cached stuff, iOS running stuff, internal cookies, info, settings, saved data, etc etc
