Pages - landscape and portrait.

Just wondering if it's possible to change the layout of pages to landscape. Typing in portrait doesn't always satisfy my needs.
Thanks

Ran into this problem myself. PAGES apparently does not allow a landscape format from within the iPad app. If you go to the Mac app and create one the iPad app will recognize it. I keep one as a kind of template in my documents folder within PAGES.

In case you don't have a Mac, here are the files. You should be able to download them in Safari and choose the Open In feature to copy them to pages. I've included an A4 landscape file, since you appear to be from that neighborhood. ;)

I'd be happy to create some other formats on request.

Act fast. These are stored on my iDisk (MobileMe) site, so you only have till June 30, 2012 to get them. :D

Edit: hang on, I'm having problems with the links. I'll get it fixed shortly.

Second Edit: Ok, all fixed. I had to add the extention (duh) so that Safari would recognize what format it was and open the files.

Only took a few minutes, and I'd been considering making templates for myself since I first read it would work, a few days ago. So it's only a 'little' nice of me. ;)

Very useful, many thanks. I would have struggled as I am still a PC user with no access to Mac.

I downloaded and then went to Document Setup to change it to A4 and - guess what - it changes it back to portrait!! Any chance of an A4 landscape mode? (for us Brits...)

Thanks

The first of the three files is A4 Landscape.

Any chance of getting a Portrait sized for the iPad display?

Are you trying to end up with something that displays on the iPad as a full screen, or a something that prints to a peice of paper the physical size of the iPad screen?

If the first, just pinch/zoom the display until you see what you want and do a screen capture by briefly pressing the home and power buttons at the sane time. If the other, I can probably make a custom template. Let me know.

I've got an MS Publisher template that I use to generate chord sheets. I use them exclusively on the iPad in an app (GigBook) while playing music. Occasionally I email them to people but PDF's can stretch to fit page size when printing, and that's not my problem. I currently create them in Publisher, save as a PDF into Dropbox, access Dropbox on the iPad then open in GigBook. Can we say cumbersome?

It would be easier to create the chord sheet directly on the iPad. That way I can make better use of the real estate and I can make sure the font is readable.

Since it's in Publisher, I can't do anything with it while mobile. If I use the built-in letter/a4 then it shrinks to fit the iPad screen and I lose valuable screen real estate as well as definition.

There's a large central text box, but I occasionally need to split it into two columns. I'm not sure if Pages can do that, but if Publisher can then Pages should be able to as well. Basically, all I'm trying to find is a Pages document that's portrait oriented and is 6x8 (or as close to iPad display as possible). I can add the necessary text boxes on my own, but I can't find a doc that is designed for this screen.

Attached is a PDF of my current template.
