Many of us have pets, I myself have always been a lover of creatures great and small, with cats being my favourite. I'm sure many of you would have guessed that by now! ;)

During my lifetime I have had cats, dogs, guinea pigs, birds, fish, mice, green frogs, frilled lizards, turtles, hermit crabs and even a lamb as pets. My mother baulked at the green tree snake I bought home once and I had to let him go. ;)

Now I have 2 cats, Mischka (British Shorthair) and Jaxon (Burmese cross) and 1 dog Yukie (Maltese/Shih Tzu cross) and 6 goldfish.

Let us know what pets share your life......

What a great idea for this new thread and I think always a good read for us members. Have not had a pet since my Russian Blue cat passed away but love reading/ looking at their pics by owners here.

Thanks Andrew!

I'm wondering who will win out.....cats or dogs!

You know what I'll be rooting for though! ;)

I don't own pets, but my brother and sister both do...as do many cousins. I'll say that pets certainly help provide a balance in a household where there wasn't one before. My sister and brother-in-law spotted a rescue dog name Shane. Before than, their lives were so here and there, but nowhere. Bringing Shane home, provided a center point again. It's weird to say that about a dog, but he truly has been a an angel! :)

Just my dog, Gypsy.

I'm allergic to cats, but even if I were not (and I wasn't always) I've always preferred the company of dogs.

Though, there was this one cat that I raised. . . :)

That cat must have been special! I get it, we are either 'dog' or 'cat' people really, no getting around it!

I just have an affinity with cats, always have.

And you know it's not the fur that's the problem, it's normally the cat's saliva that folk are allergic to.....and they clean themselves so much, that it's everywhere.

My sister in law is allergic but she loves cats too, so when I give mine a bath, she has a cuddle! ;)

I got her from my aunt Val. The kitten was originally intended for an elderly lady who had recently lost one of her cats; but she let it get into the catnip and it bit her. That kitten, that is.

Catnip appears to be well named.

When Val brought it over it eyes were a bloodshot yellow and it was vibrating. I held the double palmful of black fur until it fell asleep. From that day on it followed me pretty much everywhere, unless it could get a ride, of course. It's favorite traveling configuration was draped around my neck and shoulders. It was almost doglike in it's desire for company and devotion. Maybe that's why I liked it so much.

I named her Mix, a combination of minx and mixed up. :)

Apparently I am allergic to the dander. I can hang around in a well ventilated and clean cat home for quite a while without symptoms, but if it's stuffy I'll soon start to puff up around the eyes.

That poor little thing.....I'm so glad you were able to calm her.....you saved her and she knew this. I've had cats like that which have followed me everywhere....played hide and seek too!

My cat Jaxon follows me everywhere now, especially in the garden when I'm working, he just likes to be around and sit with me....although he doesn't like being held too much, he will come and just flop against me, then go to sleep. He's sitting with me now. :)

Love the name you chose for her. A real shame with your allergy to dander!
