Photo quality lost during restore from backup to new ipad

Hi, wondering if anyone can help--replaced my ipad 2 with a new one because of a cracked screen. Backed up first on itunes, and when I restored everything on the new Ipad, the photos (except those in the photostream folder) came through very pixilated and low resolution. I've tried re-syncing them with my pc and there's no change. Is there a
way to delete all the photos from the ipad, and just reload them from my pc as if they were going on for the first
time? Other suggestions?
