my ipad has run out of storage space and it may be because I have too many photos. What is the difference between iPhoto and the daisy photo icon please. Am I storing my photos in two places and using up storage? 16GB for less than 1000 photos does not seem right. Cheers.

Have a look in Settings - General - Usage - and you will see Storage which will itemize apps on your iPad and show you how much each app uses.
