Portable MAC wireless router recommendation?

As a newbie I need help

I have an iPad 2 and I m going to Europe

Some. Hotels only have wired connections for laptops

My Q : what device do I need to buy to enable me to use my iPad in or out of the hotel room, without of course incurring AT&T overseas charges ?

I would like to get a recommendation on the best brand ?

Is a portable wifi router what I need - seen some on eBay ?

Is there a good recent review that anyone can point me to ?
