Problem with deleting emails

Hello everyone - I wonder if you can help me. I have received an email on my .me account, and viewed it on my iPad. It contains sensitive financial information and I therefore deleted it by pressing the dustbin icon and then deleted my trash emails. It is cleared off the system and does not appear anywhere on my other devices. My desktop and iPhone no longer find it.

However, when I go to my iPad front screen and use the search facility finder at the top of the black page, it appears! When I press on that item it takes me to the mail application, but there is no email to be found. How do I get it off my search screen?

I'm sure there is an easy way to do this.

Go to Settings - General - Spotlight Search and then untick mail.
