problem with email settings

Hi there, new to the forum but am trying to work out an issue with recent update to OS 5 with my 1st gen iPad.
after going through multiple issues with the update (needed to restore several times to get a working iPad) i now have issues with the mail settings.
When i go to 'settings' and tap on the 'mail,calender, contacts' button the settings screen disappears and reverts to the home screen. subsequently i am unable to set up my mail accounts after the update. this is a major problem as this is my work device and i am loosing contact with the office while i do not have mail access.

any similar issues - suggestions?

Sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with your iPad. Two things I can think of. One would be to re-sync your iPad on iTunes once or twice. This has resolved similar problems for others.

If that doesn't work I would try resetting the iPad. Press and hold the power button and the home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
