using ipad with a great app (backtrax) to organize and play songs from organized lists.

Problem: when I use to use a Sony mini disk unit to play digital backgrounds, the sound was full and punchy. No spreadin or mushing of the sound.

with the ipad, there doesn't seem to be the output to the mixer I need toget the same great sound.
I am using a pro output from the dock to RCA to amplify. I've tried going out of the headphone jack, and that is not acceptable sound at all.

Any suggestion? Are there any small amps made to boost the signal?

Thank you for your help.

How about using a headphone amp in between the headphone socket and the mixer?
