Question about downloading apps

In the App Store, I see a lot of apps for newspapers, such as the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. But what is the benefit to downloading the WSJ app or the NYT app when you can go to their websites and add them to your home screen? Why is one a better option than the other?

Probably - the ability to subscribe, layouts & features design with iPad in mind, intergration with different features of your iPad (such as gps) embedded video, etc etc... There are loads of reasons why an app may be better than the webpage for both the user and provider.
