Question about the Dot on the iPad

Hey Everyone,

I have the iPad 3G and noticed there was this dot on top of the LCD screen, which looks like it could be a webcam.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be or what it is?

Probably a light sensor for auto dimming the screen.

YES, it's the ambient light sensor.

BUT, there is actually a hole in the frame, where a MacBook-camera would fit. But, the question is, will it be supported and where will it actually connect to.....probably never in the iPad 1st gen.
