Reading Trashed Email

For some reason I cannot read most of the emails in my trash after I delete them. Is there a setting that I have messed up? Thanks in advance.

Are you able to see the emails in Trash? Or do they simply 'disappear'?

They are there with a message that says they cannot be opened due to their format, but I was able to read them fine before sending them to trash. This is why I am confused.

What happens if you move them back to the InBox - are they still unreadable there too?

Yes, if I move it back to the Inbox, it again becomes readable. Any ideas?

 

[The Alternative]

There is no connection to the content of the e-mail after it is sent to the Trash bin. Sending it back to the Inbox re-establishes the connection to the content. I think its done to save space.
