Is there a way to view streaming real player content on the iPad without a jailbreak? I've tried splashtop and seems to work ok, but wanted to see if there is an app or another direct solution. Tia.

No Adobe, No Windows Media, No RealPlayer Support???

There seems to be a general lack of concern about the iPads shortcomings. I guess if you are an Apple fanatic you turn a blind eye. I received the iPad for Christmas - someone was way too generous! Anyway, it is cool and all but really, really limited.

The fact that it won't play Adobe Flash sucks......HTML5 is hardly as ubiquitous. But ok...yet when I tried to listen to earnings calls and presentations from corporations.....which is really what I do.....it is totally useless. Veracast, like most other such sites, makes you choose between Windows Media Player or RealPlayer to listen to the stream but you guessed it - the iPad OS doesn't support them either!

Why do these forums not address these glaring oversights?????

Can someone confirm that I am correct about the iPads shortcomings, I would really appreciate it.

(my girlfriend could have bought me 2 nice net books for less than the cost of this one neat doorstop)

Any takers?

Yes Stackman

I hear ya. Apple hype is pretty powerful. This iPad2 is my first Apple product and now I get it. Proprietary technology is highly overrated. I've read a bunch of the supposed rationale for no Flash and other function. I hope those of us who get it can rally and start beating down the resistance.

It's not "shortcomings" per se. The iPad is not a laptop. It is a very thin, low profile, long battery life tablet. I hate apple and all the skeeze that revolves around them, but it's not like a Xoom or Playbook has real player or Windows Media player. Flash runs on Puffin about as smooth as flash runs on a Playbook, so it's become a moot point for me. I'm more annoyed by the lack of java, TBH.

Well i have been looking for a browser or anything similar. I like to watch streaming in my free time so I downloaded iswifter In the app store and now my ipad 2 streams straight from websites just like my apple laptop/desktop
