receiving email on ipad?

is there some way to receive emails a little faster on ipad? I AM getting them but they seem to take several hours to show up on the ipad as compared to my computer!
I get "checking for mail" but I dont seem to be receiving any!

Try this: Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendar and tap on "Fetch New Data". Then make sure the "Push" slide is set to ON. New data should now be pushed from the server as soon as it appears there.

I have like seven email accounts and I never had to do anything special after setting up an email account.
