My ipad 1 was dropped and the screen cracked, but I liked that one so much a bought a replacement on ebay. Didn't know until I saw it on my charges ton Paypal that the seller was actually a pawn shop. To make a long story short, it is still registered to the person that sold it to the pawnbroker. He/she was of absolutely no help. Is there any way to register it in my name? I know it is out of warranty and all that, but if it ever lost or stolen I want to be able to prove it's mine....

Connect the iPad to your iTunes and then press the Restore button (it will show up in iTunes under the iPad's Summary tab ... across the top).

iTunes will restore a "fresh" version of iOS 5.1.1 onto that iPad (the highest iOS that can be put on an iPad 1).

If you made a backup of your old iPad, when iTunes is done with the restore, you'll be prompted to restore the iPad as new or to use a backup. Choose the backup and then the "new" iPad will mirror the old and all traces of the previous owner will be gone.

Hope that helps. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
