Remote app works, but iPod cannot find iTunes library

I have an iPad2, an iPhone 3GS, and a Windows XP computer running iTunes 10.2. I have home sharing on on all devices and my tcp and udp ports open on both my router and my windows firewall.

On the iPad, I can get the remote app to work, but the iPod app will not reliably find my iTunes library. Sometimes if I restart the iPad it finds the library briefly, but soon stops working. On the iphone, both work fine.

Why on the ipad would the remote app work but the iPod app streaming not?

This seems to be firewall related, since if I turn the firewall off, the iPod app streaming begins working again. But I can't find any way to fix it.

You probably need to open another port. Go to Apple Support and look here
Well known TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products
You will probably have to experiment a little, but I'm sure you will find the right ports with this article.
