Safari address bar

Does anyone know how to delete everything in the address bar in the safari browser? I can't seem to figure out how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Safari remembers the last site you used so before closing it, touch the "x" on each tab you have open. Then the next time you open it, it will start clean.

If its the URL you mean, just touch it and an X will come up on the right to delete.
