Safari-Alert

I suddenly started getting pop-ups in Safari called Safari-Alert.

The pop-up refers to a website and provides a 1-800 number to call to fix the problem

Since this is clearly a scam can anybody tell me how to get rid of this and clean it out myself. I tried searching the forums but come up with a no results found. Other rsults found through Google refer to this problem on the Mac but since I have an iPad with no keyboard I cannot implement the proposed solutions. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

One thing I suggest is to fully close Safari (double tap the Home button and then swipe up the Safari "card").

Then, go to the Safari section in your Settings app and scroll down to the "Clear History and Website Data" line - and tap it.

Hopefully, that'll end that pop-up.
