Safari Autofill Not Working

Autofill (i.e., passwords, logins, etc.) has stopped working in Safari on my Ipad2. Yes, I've gone into Settings and set it up several times, but it still won't work. I've gone on the Internet, but the entries I've found were no help. Some repeatedly told those complaining to set it up in Settings. Others merely lamented the fact their Ipad Safari didn't work either. Surely, there's a real solution - preferably, a step-by-step.

If you read up, you've probably encountered these usual fixes before, but just in case:

When you have problems with an app it's a good idea to clear it from RAM.

Close/Clear the app: With the problem app closed, double tap on the Home button to get the multitask bar. Tap and hold on any icon in the bar until they jiggle, then tap the minus sign on the problem app. This will remove it from RAM and insure a clean start the next time you launch the app.

If that does not work try a restart,

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends you restart the iPad at least once a month.
and then a reset if that does not work.

Reset: Hold down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. The iPad will reboot. This usually takes a bit longer than a restart.

Also, though I don't know why it would make a difference, make sure you don't have Private Browsing turned on, and that you Accept Cookies from Visited (found in Settings > Safari).

I tried what you recommended, but nothing worked. I use the ipad professionally, so I can't try a hard rest for about another week. After that I'll see if a hard reset will work, unless you or anyone else has a solution. Thank you for taking the time to attempt a fix.

The reset does not erase anything. It's just a more robust restart, as far as I can tell.

A bit more drastic, but still data safe is Restore All Settings, found in Settings > General > Reset. This does not erase apps, data, or accounts, but you'll have to go though most of your settings and re-tweak to get things back to how you like them. It looks scarily like when you first set up your iPad. Just warning you in case you have a weak heart. ;)

What you don't want to do until you're home and have a good backup is a Restore from iTunes on the computer, or Erase All Contents and Settings from the Reset settings on the iPad. The other two are harmless, though the second can certainly test your patience if you've forgotten just where the setting you want to reset is at.

When you are at the Reset settings page, it's not a good time to be tapping randomly by accident. Be sure to tap the right button. :)

same problem, I've tried everything but it does not work

I activated it in settings, linked to my info in contact book, did reset, but still does not work (does not fill and if I press "autofill" button nothing happen)

I guess it's a widespread issue, but for some reason I don't find solutions

help somebody?

Has anyone used any aftermarket Ipad2 app that would work better than Safari and in essence, replace it?

On my PC I use Norton which does the same as Safari, but is more reliable: you surf to a site, it autofills the site's user name and password and you're in with a click. I DON'T want anything that I have to open first, scroll around looking for a saved web link, then click, etc. I want it to work just like Safari - at least when Safari works. Also, the app needs to save new user names and passwords when entered on a new website. The app doesn't have to handle credit card info, but if it does, that would be great. And, finally, I don't want to have to have a PC version (unless free) or a yearly subscription fee. Thanks.
