So I'm on a major trip, used my fully charged ipad to take pictures of something very important to me, and the battery lasted only 3 hours. Others had an ipad, and batteries were still at 93%! I'm not very happy about this. My ipad is only 3 years old.

In addition to the excellent link provided, you might also want to tell us about your 'activities' on the iPad vs. the others w/ 90+% battery power left after a similar amount to time?

Playing music, surfing the web, using Face Time, or watching videos greatly impacts on battery life - see the pic below from an app on my iPad 2 (from one of two 'battery apps' on my device) - e.g. notice the difference between 'audio playback' & 'video recording' - a number of battery programs are available in the app store, if interested.
