screen sensativity in a security case?

Hi guys and gals ,
im looking to set up an ipad 1,2,3, air in a security enclosure , i want to cover the screen to stop damage , is there a way ? be it a particular model i pad or an app that allows normal use of the ipad while having no direct physical contact with the screen , i have seen diving cases and the commonwealth bank use them at some branches which have a 3-5mm thick acrylic top over the ipad and they work ???
