screensaver necessary?

I am using a "clock" app which is on the screen constantly. Is there any harm of burning the screen or does the ipad use a different kind of display?

I can just picture an iPad with a CRT...
An iCube?

Seriously, the safari bar at the top of your screen has no effect I doubt that your clock would...

Screensavers were needed for CRT screens because the guns at the back of the screen were constantly burning the image onto the screen.

LED screens do not have the same problem. People just had screensavers because there has always been screensavers.
