some iPad apps not showing in iTunes library

I have had my iPad 2 for a while now and have around 30 apps. I recently got an iPhone 4S and not necessarily want to sync the apps, but to pick and choose between them. I problem is all my iphone apps show in the library, but not all the iPads. most do not actually. Is this normal? im pretty new all around to the Apple world (actually just got an iMac also... lol) so pardon my stupidity if it is normal.

So, is there a way to view all the apps I have ever downloaded, purchases, etc across the board (iMac, iPhone, and iPad)?

On the iPad and iPhone you can choose the Purchased tab to see all your purchased apps. On the Mac it is under the Quick Links at the top right of the iTunes Store.

You should be able to copy all your apps from the iPad to iTunes on the Mac by right clicking on the iPad under the Devices list and choosing Transfer Purchases.
