sounds don't work in apps but will play songs and netflix, why??

My ipad will no longer play any music or sounds in any of the apps but will still play songs and movies and youtube. I have checked the sound controls in the apps and through the settings. Please help

Have you gone into the settings of your iPad...

settings>general>Use side switch to...and make sure that the Mute is unchecked.
