Stolen Ipad 2

So I bought an Ipad2 and hadnt even opened it yet when someone stole it from my house when I had party. All I have is a receipt with the serial number. Is there anything besides reporting it to the authorities (which I have already done) that I can do?

So i bought an ipad from this person thinking it was his and he didnt want it because he already had one. The ipad is still in its box brand new never turned on or used. However, my friend told me that he knows that person and he stole it from a store, first of all if i register my info on itunes will the ipad be tracked?? second i will go to the store and tell them i believe someone sold me an ipad that was stolen from this store but what will happen with the money i spent?! ugh

Depending on where you are, you can file a police report and see whether Apple and carriers might block access to 3G and iTunes by using the IMEI and serial numbers.

You also can file a claim with your homeowner's or renter's insurance, if you have them. And you can check whether your credit card company covers such losses if you bought it with a credit card.

Even with iTunes and 3G blocked, a thief could use workarounds to use an iPad, and the thief might just sell it (or might've already sold it to an unsuspecting person).

If you social network, you might also post about the theft on your Facebook page, in case someone saw something at your party.

Apple wont do a thing... There is no 3G service set up

Like I said, it depends where you are. Some countries don't require activated 3G to block via IMEI, as in this example:
