Stopping synchronising apps on iPhone and iPad

I Have done something that means that apps that I add to my iPad also get added to my iPhone. I do not want this to happen - can someone tell me what I have done to cause it, and how can I stop it?

Also, having these apps 'duplicated', if I delete one from one device, will it also be deleted from the other? And what can I do to stop that happening?

In Settings - iTunes & App Stores - Automatic Downloads disable Apps. (That's on iPad. I suppose you will find something similar on the iPhone.) You have to disable it on the device where you don't want to have apps automatically downloaded.

This works for downloads. You have to delete apps on each device individually.
