Why not hook it directly to your tv?

You can get one of these:
Apple Digital AV Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)

I have one of these and use it all the time when I travel to hook up to the TV in the hotel.:

I use an Apple TV and stream directly from Ipad or Touch to the TV. On many apps and videos, etc in Safari you will find the Air Play icon and its a simple matter to click on it and choose Apple TV and it streams directly. You can also stream your photos, or Flickr or Vimeo, access other things directly, including your PC. I use it all the time and also to stream music from Touch or Ipad including all the music apps like Pandora, Rhapsody, etc, to your sound system connected to your TV.
