Street View?

Is anyone else confused about downloading the Street View function?

It would be helpful if some one could take the time to supply step-by-step instructions on how to add this to iPad 2. All I get is a regular map, without the icon that Google says will appear.

Once you goto maps.google.com and then search for a place, the familiar man icon for streetview will appear in the bottom right.

Its different from the desktop version in that you don't drag the icon to the map, but search for where you want and then tap the icon.

A little more info, from my own brief experimenting:

If you do a search the icon will take you to the first result, the (A) icon, unless you first select another result.

It's the last icon of three that appear at the lower right of the screen. For some reason it looks like the sign for a men's bathroom. I believe the first two are for contact and navigation, but they don't seem to be working at the moment. Safari says the address is invalid.

POI's are the little icons for restaurants, gas stations, banks, etc. that appear on the map without having to search for them. Selecting them will also cause the icon(s) to appear.

If the icon is a light blue (instead of 'slightly' darker blue) there is no street view available for that location.
