stuck rebooting

Hi guys.
i am new to this forum and yes with a ipad2!.
I could not acces my email accounts cause i froze.
I turned it of so it could reboot.
The screen turn black and the little with star is turning in the middle of the screen for the last 30 minutes.
I lack patience? is it normal? or do you have a solution for me?

Hold the sleep and home button together till apple shows
That will reset.
