I'm probably missing something but when using the music player I can only fast forward, rewind, play and pause. Does anyone know how to stop a track without switching off the ipad2?

Hi Simon... - welcome to the forum! :)

I don't have much music on my iPad (nearly all stored on an older iPod) - but I'm assuming that you are using the native Music Player of the iPad2? If so, look at the 'screenshot' below - the usual controls are shown in the upper left corner; the first track is playing and thus there is the pause icon at the moment - tapping that will stop the music and another track can then be selected, all as expected.

Now if you are not seeing this icon, then you might want to 'force close' the Music app, i.e. double tap the 'home button' (or use multi-fingering gesturing) to open the multitask bar at the bottom, press and hold any app until all begin to jiggle, find the 'Music' icon and press the minus sign; return to the home screen and try again. If not effective, 'Restart' or 'Reset' the iPad.

Good luck and please post back as needed!
