Symbol meaning, please

OK, I have searched the web and the forums and I cannot find what a symbol means. It is a arrow up by the battery percentage number. Anyone know???
Thanks if it was answered before and I just couldn't find it.

It repesents that an app is accessing your gps location for whatever reason....depending on the app.

It means that an application on your iPad is using the location services provided by the iPad. i.e. an application running on your iPad has asked the iPad - either GPS or location via WiFi hotspot database - where the iPad is. You can see which application is asking for this information in 'Settings', 'General', 'Location Services'.
