Syncing from external hard drive?

I have very little space left on my MacBook's hard drive, so if I keep all my videos on my external hard drive (and delete them from my MacBook), could I still sync them to my iPad, without having to drag them into iTunes? Basically, can an iPad sync from an external hard drive?

Yes, that is how I sync my iPad. You would still have to use iTunes though. I just set my iTunes library to store on the external hard drive and have made folders on the drive specifically for the iPad. Works great and keeps my computer cleaner.

Yes I agree however buy a second external hard drive to back it up just in case it gets stolen, crashes or dropped ........

I do the same as Jake - my itunes library is on an external drive; as far as I know though your whole library needs to be on it.

I use both external hard drives and network storage. You do need to drag them into iTunes, though.
