Talkatone + GV Connect

Anyone using this combo?

I am stationed in Europe, and I would like to set up my iPad2 to make free calls back to the states.

I do not have my iPad2 yet, if someone could walk me through the workflow of setting up and using this combo, I would be grateful.

I use Skype. I hadn't heard of this app. How does it compare to Skype? What are the advantages?

Talkatone + GV Connect work just fine for making
voice only calls.

I just found this: http://appadvice.com/appnn/2011/04/talkatone/ . Good article about these 2 programs and soon to come updates/improvements.

After reading the article I wonder if it might be a viable cell phone replacement?
