The Russian Government is Worried about the iPad’s Security

[FONT=&quot]A fascinating report has surfaced on the Financial Post, which says that according to various Russian newspapers, including business daily RBK Daily, the Russian government is thinking about banning the iPad from being used in Russian government agencies because of “security concernsâ€. Instead of the iPad, the report says that the Russian government is looking to adopt more “cryptographically secure tablet PCs.†Apparently the government has yet to decided if the governmental tablet of choice will be the BlackBerry PlayBook made by RIM, or a Google Android tablet. They are even looking into creating their own Russian tablet tailored complete with a “variety of security systems,†according to the report. As the Financial Post notes, RIM hasn’t had a lot of good news lately, so it will be pleased to hear that the Russian government is paying attention to its efforts to focus on the PlayBook’s security features, with particular consideration for the enterprise market. According to the Financial Post, RIM’s security technology led to the BlackBerry smartphone being adopted by many governments and governmental agencies around the world, including the Canadian government and the U.S. FBI, as their official phone.
