Thinking About Getting One

I've been a PC user for twenty years, but when many of my friends began getting iPads, I figured I should see if it can be of use to me.

Will check out the Forum!

You will not regret! A pc is great for file managing, but for browsing the internet, playing games ect. An iPad is perfect! It is worth the money!

Thanks for the great information you've provided, leelai, because I admit that making the transition from PC culture to this new and unfamiliar world of tablets, different operating system, apps and protocols is a bit daunting.

I'm glad I've discovered this community that seems to be welcoming and eager to help.

Looking forward to learning from the Forum.

It is a very big leap from a PC but you'll be amazed at just how quick and easy it is and the portability is just great. It will transform how you go about your daily tasks.

Info in those links above will get you well on your way....enjoy!

Get one, test drive and return if it doesn't work for you.

I've used PCs for years and found iDevices a cinch. I'm no tech whiz. iPhone was my gateway drug to iPad.

I too have been a PC user since the late 80's and had avoided all Apple products. However on a work trip from Australia to Houston last year, my laptop became unstable and I bought a Macbook, after seeing one used by a colleague, and then put win 7 on it. I can use it for my normal windows development but also with OSX

I then bought an iPhone to replace my Nokia which had been ruined when it went in to a lake playing golf.

I waited until the new iPad came out this year before making that step, as the iPad 2 had in my opinion a really crappy camera.

I have quite a few apps but the one that can almost justify the iPad on its own is logmein. THis allows me to run my PC remotely and means I can travel without taking a laptop but still have an emergency way of doing my work (at least minor stuff).

I am starting to learn how to write html5 apps and run them on my iPad. Just created a small one for managing my golf handicap so far.

I think its great. Get one.
