Time, Day and Date

The constant display of current time at top centre of screen is an excellent facility, but I would like it to also include the current Day and Date - even if only by tapping on the Time to expand it, a feature that is common on many PC screens and one that I really miss when using the iPad.
Is there any way of the user adding this as a custom feature?
If not, can a request be made to Apple for its inclusion, either permanently (as the time is now) or as a user option?

Sorry, but you can't have the date in the status bar on a stock iPad.

However, if you jail break your iPad, then you can use a tweak called SBSettings - that will allow you to put the numeric month and date in the status bar.

While not what you asked for, the icon for the Calendar app always displays the current day and date. If you place it in the dock, it will always be visible from the home screen.

This bugged me forever too, until I noticed that when you stroke down to view notifications.... events from your calendar are there and the date is too....
