LG Electronics has big plans this year. Apparently it just struck a global partnership with Touchtv in order to bring the technology provided by the ladder to LG Smart TVs. The Touchtv app has also been launched for the iPad. So what exactly is this Touchtv you might ask?

Well, for starters the app picks up videos from the websites of TV networks like ESPN, Comedy Central, Discovery, ABC, CBS, E!, Fox, ABC, NBC, National Geographic and Lifetime, thus allowing users to access the content anytime, anyplace. The company behind the Touchtv technology is called Skygrid. Right now, the app only supports streaming of short videos and TV shows, which isn’t bad, but surely we are craving for more.

In order to browse easily through your favorite clips make sure you select your favorite channels. Yes, you could visit these websites on your own and look for your videos by yourself but the app makes it a lot easier since it automatically pulls the videos off the channels.

On the other hand, the LG Smart TVs endowed with the Touchtv technology will allow users to access and view the most important events without cable.

Touchtv is available for free on the developer’s website or down at the App Store so if you own an iPad there’s no reason why you won’t be giving this little baby a spin. Of course Touchtv will have to face some nasty competition from the already established Hulu and Netflix, but there’s no reason we shouldn’t give this newcomer a fair chance.
