Transferring photos from iPad to computer

I used the toggle to put pictures on my iPad. When I synch they do not get onto my computer. What do I do?

If you are using an windows PC then you simply connect your ipad to your computer, then after 30 seconds or so your computer will give you the option to import pictures and or video to your computer. Once you select this option the pictures will import. You do not use iTunes for this process.
If you are using a MAC then I am not sure of the process.
