Transferring pictures from computer to ipad

I tried to transfer more than one file folder of pictures to my iPad and each time it would erase the other folder while adding the new one. It also reversed the order of the pictures. Both files were progressive pictures of a hot air balloon flight. I want the pictures in the order I took them
